Dead Island 2 is the sequel to Dead Island (2011) and the third main installment in the Dead Island series – an action RPG game series developed by Dambuster Studios and published by Deep Silver.
According to the latest information, it is scheduled to launch on April 21, 2023, although it was announced in 2014. Its delay is due to many reasons, but mainly because of the exchange with the studios that developed it.

In 2015, Yager was replaced by an unnamed developer due to a mismatch in vision. Yager Productions filed for bankruptcy shortly after.
Development resumed in 2016 under Sumo Digital and then moved to Dambuster Studios, an internal Deep Silver studio, in 2019.
A playable version of the game from 2015, developed by Yager, was leaked in 2020.
The game was officially presented at Gamescom 2022 with a release date set for February 3, 2023. However, the release was later postponed to April 28, 2023, and then moved forward a week to April 21, 2023.
