Star Wars Jedi: Survivor story
Set five years after Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Survivor follows Jedi Knight Cal Kestis (Cameron Monaghan) as he continues undertaking missions for the Alliance against the Empire. In this installment, Cal confronts the Empire and new adversaries, such as the Bedlam Raiders, a group of combat cyborgs led by a large purple robot named Rayvis.
The game starts aboard The Mantis, Cal’s ship from Fallen Order. However, Cal’s landing on planet Koboh, where he intends to visit an outpost inhabited by his old friend Greez, damages The Mantis’ gyroscope module. Cal hopes Greez has a spare part as a new adventure, and unexpected battles await him.

Expanding upon the gameplay of Fallen Order, the small town where Cal lands serve as a hub similar to the ship from the first game. As players progress, the hub evolves with new characters, conversations, and storefronts. Additionally, Cal can tame and ride animals as mounts on land and in the air.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor gameplay: Adventure and action
Combat mechanics
In Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, players will find familiar gameplay elements from its predecessor and new additions. Director Asmussen revealed that some stances and moves in the game were initially developed for Fallen Order but never completed.
The sequel features 3 fully developed lightsaber stances for Cal Kestis, including single- and double-edged lightsaber stances from Fallen Order and an expanded special double-blade attack.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor also introduces a sustained Kylo Ren-style crossguard lightsaber that demands more precision in blocking and dodging enemy attacks. Each stance is designed for specific enemy types, prompting players to determine their ideal weapon choice.
Besides, similar to Kylo Ren’s in The Force Awakens, a new Force stasis ability enables players to freeze enemies and lightning bolts mid-air.
Adventure on a larger map
The game’s three-dimensional map has been improved, offering a more user-friendly experience, with better waypoint systems and color contrasts for locked doors and unexplored platforms.
Despite these enhancements, the game suggests the original’s exploratory nature, encouraging players to uncover hidden paths and secrets. Players can discover chests containing valuable rewards, such as lightsaber components and fragments of ancient Jedi lore.

Puzzle challenges
In Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, players can explore various planets and discover Jedi Test Chambers, akin to the Shrines in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. These chambers present puzzles and challenges, rewarding players with skill points for upgrading their skill tree upon completion.
What’s new in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor cast?
The protagonist, Cal, returns with more customization options for players. Besides changing the color of his lightsaber, players can modify BD’s base color and individual components found in chests scattered throughout the game world. Cal’s appearance can also be customized, including his hairstyle, beard, clothing, and lightsaber parts.

New adversaries, the Bedlam Raiders, introduce B1 combat robots, which provide entertaining interactions. Their dialogues with each other, or even when observed alone, add a humorous element to the game.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor graphics
Anyone can easily see the improvement in graphics quality in Survivor. It offers a larger world but by no means less formality. Every nook and cranny of the map is really detailed and realistic.
The images of characters, robots, and trees, … with a modern fantasy style, make us feel the game’s world and immerse ourselves in it. The combat effects are also more vivid, making battles more exciting and daring than before. The new design of the robot promises to delight you as well.

Is Star Wars Jedi: Survivor open-world?
Yes. Instead of a single large map like in Fallen Oder, Survivor has many minimaps on the planet. You’ll discover them by running, climbing, grappling, and more. Many secret paths lead to each map, each containing resources for Cal.
It incorporates expansive open areas with linear sections featuring tailored combat scenarios and platform challenges, where the bulk of the story unfolds. The planet Koboh serves as the central open-world area and the player’s base of operations, offering one of the largest maps in the game, teeming with fascinating locations and formidable bosses.

In summary, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor aims to balance open-world exploration and linear gameplay, capturing the essence of the Star Wars universe while delivering a well-paced, engaging story.
Overall, we’re good with the Star Wars Jedi: Survivor gameplay and its new take. Respawn has learned from Fallen Order and made this new game better.
While retaining most of the combat mechanics, characters, and storytelling from its predecessor, Survivor still leaves its mark thanks to several notable improvements. Refreshing posture and sword skills are two examples. So if you’re happy with Fallen Order, Survivor makes you happy too. Download and experience it now, then let us know what you think.
